Slide-Fire Update?
I did a search her but the results (though many) are in chronological order. But to the. point, is there any update? I read months ago that the ATF admitted that they didn't have the authority for a ban and there was a legal challenge. Anything else guys?

Good question. It seems the topic has dropped out of all discussion,everywhere. Even searches I do on the web bring up articles from past, nothing current or updated.

just my guess the vast majority were turned in or destroyed . ( I know mine was broken into pieces and that was the 1st time and last time it came of the box ) I would say no one or very few wanted to chance to hang on and get in trouble waiting on a reversal of the law . I remember reading the manufacture and suppliers destroyed thousands . the challenges kept getting push off and I do not think the federal judges ( any one of them ) would even block or delay the ruling I remember even the supposed gun friendly ones would not step in .
I would say its dead and gone and forgotten by most like beating a dead horse just another win for the anti gunners and I remember a lot of gun owners siding with there demise who need one so what if they outlaw them no loss .. (" I still have my English double or fill in the blank ) to me gun owners have always been divided and just will not get together to support something gun related if they do not see a personal want or need .

I don't believe that is the way it works. At ATFE, the Office of Science & Technology interprets firearms laws & answers questions from the public, manufacturers, & other government agencies, including the president. OST is advisory, they don't enact laws or regulations. In the slide-fire case, they investigated these devices during the Obama administration & advised that they didn't believe that slide-fire stocks violate existing law, so ATFE issued a bulletin saying that slide-fires are legal. But, Trump, who is not really committed to the 2nd amendment, ordered the head of ATFE (his appointment) to issue a memo stating that they are not legal, overriding the usual fact based process. So, ATFE does have legal authority to issue regulations, so that's the end of it until we get a president who is truly committed to the cause.

The BATF under Obama issued a bulletin based upon the definition of machine gun in the NFA of 1934 which specifically stated that to be a machine gun required multiple rounds being fired with one actuation of the trigger. You are correct. Trump is not committed to the 2nd Amendment, and this case proves he is not committed to the rule of law. He is just another politician who stuck his finger in the wind and put out a decree that he believed would gain him political points, regardless of what the law actually says.0 -

There was no public safety issue regardless. Not one documented case where a bump stock has been used in a crime. Even the official investigation into the Vegas shooting, which initially contained reports of the use of bump stocks, turned up empty in that regard.0 -

Public safety is the reason given for all gun control laws here in the US. It's also why 18 year old adults are denied so many adult rights. Is is also the reason used for a basically unending list of infringements that are in effect now and will be enacted in our future.
The only way to keep the public 100% safe is to not have a public. But destroying a Republic is good enough for some.0 -
