Nikon makes a good scope. The P series is nice from what I have seen.

The reticle is a little busy for a hunting scope but if its what want and like go for it.

I don't know if you know about their reticle/range site if not here it is:

Just fill in the info and it will give come ups and/or where to aim for a specific distance with a specific load.

Not sure how they plan to handle warranty issues.

Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business - The Truth About Guns
One of our intrepid readers who’s in the retail end of the gun business told us of notification he received from one of his distributors. They were letting him know that Nikon will be exiting the rifle scope business and that once current inventory is gone, it’s gone. TTAG spoke to Nikon’s advertising agency who …

I read the same thing but their website is still up running and they are still selling scopes. I would think they will warranty their products you may just not a new scope.

There is a lot of topics when you google it but all are based on that one article, but on the other hand I don't see Nikon pushing back on the rumor.

I hadn't heard that about Nikon but I've never had an issue with one of their scopes (yet), this scope comes with a lifetime warranty but at my age that's really not that long of a warranty. 😉

I just got off of the phone with Nikon and found out that they stopped production of rifle scopes worldwide in November of last year.

I have never had to avail myself of their lifetime warranty and I have a half dozen or so of their scopes. In the past I had several customers send in Nikon scopes they had bought used that needed work. All were fixed or replaced no questions asked. I wonder how they will handle that in the future? Bob

What do you think prompted Nikon to cease production of rifle scopes?

Nikon has been around for a long time and their optics are pretty high end, makes no sense to just stop making something that you are noted for.

Money. The markets change, production techniques change. I'm guessing they evaluated the future market, competition, future manufacturing investments etc., and came to a business decision.

I've been looking at the Vortex line of scopes, seems like they're the new sheriff in town. Don't know how long they can stick with their "no questions asked" warranty seems like that will be cost prohibitive for them at some point in the future.

I'm also interested in the 4-12x40 and the 3.5-10x50

Bought the Diamondback here on GB for 120.. 131 shipped to the door. It is clear as the Vortex Viper. Works well on the Steyr 25/06
