30-06
It is an established fact that the venerable 30-06 is the best general purpose cartridge that has ever or will ever be developed.
Does anyone have any rifles that fire this cartridge? If so, let us have a picture thread.
I'll start with a few:

NEF Ultra Rifle. Single shot/break open. Bull barrel with factory Muzzle brake. Grey, green, brown laminated stock. Harris bipod. Simmons Whitetail Classic scope. 6.5-20 X 63 AOL.
Will see if I can take/post a photo later. (95+% of my photos are in my two older phones, I can look at them, but that is about it.)
(Looks like most here are getting the same distortion on their photo's.)

Only have on 06, bought here from Locust Fork. Don't laugh, but it's a Savage Axis II I drunk bid on and picked up for 165$. The Leupold on top of it cost twice that. It is ridiculously accurate. Went 5 shots for 5 deer this year from 80 to 320 yards.

I used to have a bunch but after the purge I have 2:
M-1 Garand (Winchester) that was built for service rifle matches by Glen Nelson.

The 30-06 is a great general purpose cartridge there is no deneying it. I am a little more fond of the 308 though.

Here are most of the Garands, 3 of the 4 Johnsons, a 1918-A4 and the 1917-A3, HPD.
I do have one of the 100 Cobb MCR-300s, but do not seem to have a picture of it.

Found a picture of the MRC-300, HPD. Can you tell which one it is?
100% reliable with commercial 30-06 ammo. have a failure to extract about every 40 rounds or so with milsurp ammo. I thought it was just the chamber needing a break-in period, but it seems to be designed with tighter tolerances in the chamber, and any imperfection in the case will cause it to stick after firing. A little tap with a cleaning rod is all it takes to pop it out, though it is inconvenient.

Sold my 30/06's yrs ago.. went with the short action .308. I do however shoot a 25/06 for critters and deer.

After disposal of many items here at auction through locust fork my collections contains many less .30-06 rifles than it once had...
Currently:

A Remington model 30 sporting rifle
A ruger model 77 international (77-RSI) with a custom full length mannlicher stock made from a single epoxy injected stabilized piece of maple crotch wood
a savage model 110FP (24" SHB)
while these rifles give me joy and can invoke range envy - I am now limited to 8 examples chambered in .30-06
And one of my bucket list guns is a Johnson rifle or perhaps a .30-06 Romanian Dragunov

Have a few odd-balls, mrmike.
An FN-49 (semi-auto) 30-06, a Columbian Mauser, and another South American make (memory escapes me now) that was made by FN IIRC, and has ghost ring sites a little brass plaque embedded in the stock, and is very attractive firearm even though it seems to have been manufactured for military use.

I only have one but it's been a good'en. It's a Remington 03-A3. The receiver was made in September of 1943 and it was built by Bill Ferguson of Huntsville, AL. He was originally from Telephone, TX. Anyone ever heard of Telephone, TX?
I just googled Bill's name and saw where he passed away in 2015 at age 80. Damn cancer. I didn't know him personally but he was a talented guy. He was a member of the Helion Masonic Lodge #1 and was a member of Cahaba Shrine Temple. RIP

A Colombian Mauser bolt action rifle model 1950 (sometimes referenced as the the FN 1924) in .30-06 would be my first guess...
The more rare Brazilian ijatuba Mauser bolt action rifle (another K98 clone) is also possible...
My FN49 is chambered in 7.65x53 and is a scoped naval issue piece...
When I purchased it the seller did not like the round the gun was chambered in - said he could not get ammo for it - and was convinced the scope did not match the gun. Claimed it was a sporterized surplus gun firing an obsolete useless cartridge...
now a rod bayonet Springfield made prior to 1906 would be nice - perhaps marked for light house or rescue service...
A model 1895 Winchester lever action made prior to 1906 would also be sweet...
Maybe a late model (pre-1900) Remington Lee enfield style bolt action rifle in .30 cal US or .30 cal govt with a detachable 10 round magazine would be swell.

Last 30/06 I owned was purchase in perfect condition at a local auction. No one knew what it was. I was forced to purchase it for $50 dollars. Came home shot it a few times and put it away. Sold it yrs later on GB for a huge sum.

It's got to be my favorite. Love the punch at distance. Takes 'em down every time. Lots of ways to load it. Can't be beat, IMO.0 -
I have a U.S. Model 1917 Eddystone I shoot in my clubs service rifle matches. From the New York State Military Museum where I retired from. I should have backed up another thirty feet. The bottom row towards the blue cabinets are Garands and 30/06 . Earliest date on the 06 is 1904.

I just have a few '06's, a correct Lend-Lease Garand, two 1903 Springfields, a Remington 721 and a couple more built on 98 Mauser actions.
I would love to add a Johnson to my inventory but I can't spend the money on one at the moment.

I may be the only gun writer who has never owned a .30-06, a Rem 700, or ANY long-action rifle. Nor any magnum handgun except the .357. And the only .30-30 I own is a Savage 340 bolt gun.
I dearly love the .308, my Rem 788s, and all my Special handguns.
