How do you use your guns the most?
Here's a fun little poll to see how folks here use their guns the most. If I have missed something I will try to add it to the poll for you via edit (not sure If I will be able to after the poll has started) just add it in the comments below.
As an example, say you own hundreds of guns (somehow they survived the boating accident) and mostly they sit on the shelf, but when you use any of the guns you own, you hunt with them, choose "Hunting and preparing for hunting".
Note: I have made the poll anonymous, but obviously if you want to comment how you voted that is your prerogative and it could further some discussion.

Generally, my guns are hunting guns, however, my shotguns and rifles could easily pressed into service as self defense tools just as easily.

Skeet, sporting clays, a little trap shooting is first. 17&22 for pest control 2nd. Handguns available if necessary. Deer rifles gathering dust the last couple of years. Bob

It occurred to me just now that the collecting/display option could be selected for those who use them as investments. Likewise with sales/business. So there might be some overlap there.

Currently my physical condition greatly limits my ability.
So with the exception of rimfire rifles / carbines and certain "comfortable" handguns I have been in what I call a "curatorial" phase...
I have set up a schedule (3-4 each week) and a checklist:
Remove from storage
Safety check prior to handling
Transfer to work station
Wipe gun down and inspect for condition and markings (compare to existing data sheet and ephemera file)
Dig a bit deeper but not to a detail disassembled state (dismount furniture - remove grip panels - etc...)
Dig through reference book library for both comparative and additional data points - especially contradictory items
Update data and spec sheet and file as needed - fact check online where possible
Exterior surface and contact points: wipe down or light cleaning as required
Perform a light follow up inspection and assessment of accessories (ammo - bayonet - sling - optics - etc...
Return to storage following safety check - silicone gun cloth required
Repeat as needed

If you do not have about all the ammunition you would ever need, for each caliber of firearm you own - you are doing it wrong.
I made the mistake of showing/telling my Buds how much .22 ammunition I had the last dry spell. Constantly harangued to "sell me some." Nope. I kept trying to tell you about the last 10 Gun shows we went to, when I was buying up ammunition, and you were buying the latest greatest new gun/cartridge you had to have. Where are you now? How is that working out for you?

I use mine simply for Spatial occupancy.

mostly plinking we have get togetheres in my back yard and waste ammo
and self defense
one other reason I bought them was to pass on to my kids ( and grand kids if I ever get any )
