WW2 rationing pics- lots!
I stumbled on this topic earlier today then went Internet surfing.
You don’t hear much about this -but for those who lived it, I am sure it was very real.

Interesting, thanks for posting WB. Yes, all that was very real. In 1942 my mother, who was 19 years old, drove a 1937 Studebaker with four bald tires from Minnesota to Seattle by herself, and went to work in a torpedo factory.

my MIL and FIL told me about life during the time in the hills trading "coupons " and home made moonshine for sugar , gas, even tires . ( and I am sure was wide spread bartering thru out the country ) my mom and dad not so much but they were about 10 maybe 12 when WWII was taking place but neither side of our ( wife's and my ) families had much any way so they were use to life as such ,
I have often thought what would happen now if the government decided we had to ration all goods again . could you imaging the protest ( heck they shoot and stab each other over a chicken sandwich )

We had ration cards in Germany.
My mom said during the war if they rationed Locomotives, people would stand in line to get one.

The thought of rationing today would make the kids die in there tracks. Riots would break out in every major city. No type of store would be safe. But the people who grew up with morals would all be fine. So us folks here dont have to worry much.

I think of this when people tell me we need to get our soldiers home. I always ask "How have you been effected?" The GWOT has effected maybe 2% of the US population not like WW2 or WW1.
If rationing was implemented today people would go insane especially in the inner city and libtard run towns with vast populations of libtards. Riots, murder, looting...........it would be a nightmare.

Oh, it wouldn't be just kids. Plenty of adults would die in their tracks also. Some from right here too. Imagine adults who might not just willy-nilly be able to buy copious amounts of Bud Light to swill during "the game" on Sunday.
How about not being able to just go buy a new bigger more bodacious TV for an upgrade for "game" day? How about not being able to just go fill up some fuel hog SUV, and run, run, run every direction on every whim for entertainment, or to play?
How about having to run your tires out until they're BALD, and not being able to go buy new big fat tires and pimp wheels just because the 1-2 year old ones looked a little scuffed?
How about having to drive your automobile for 10-15 years instead of being able to run out and buy the latest and greatest big new fuel hog SUV every couple years?
How about not being able to tear out your kitchen and bathrooms, and send a couple of 30' dumpsters full of stuff to the dump, doing a home remodel just because is things are "outdated"?
Oh yeah, it's not just the kids. ALL of america is spoiled rotten, and could use a several years long dose of humble, IMO.

Most people have no clue how to be self efficient and they depend on the stores. I drive a 97 and my wife drives a 06 F150 and have a 2003 F350 as a hustler when needed. I bought all used. I had never had a new vehicle. When they brake down, I fix them instead of taking them to the shop unless it is something I can not due or I'm FUBAR. Hell, most people have no clue how to change a tire, they have to watch a YouTube or call roadside service.
Sad part is we live in a throw away society today.

I still have my WW II ration stamp book with a few remaining stamps. I remember saving all kind of stuff for the war effort, and everyone had a garden. Some family members made it home some didn't, we were grateful for all that served.
Sure was different when I got back from Vietnam.

The $ 2.5+ trillion we have spent affects every taxpayer, including those who will be paying taxes in the future.
500,000+ Iraqis are estimated to not be alive today who would likely be alive had we not invaded their country in 2003 to throw out their dictator.
By some estimates, over 300,000 Afghans have suffered a similar fate since our invasion in 2001.
Not to be critical, but the question of 'How have you been affected?' suggests that the money spent and lives lost can be ignored, or at least rationalized. I am having an increasingly difficult time with this type of rationalization.

What if people were no longer able/allowed to buy anything on the credit. Also, had to pay off their debt or lose their house, car , etc.
I've seen it back in the 30's and 40's. If people can't grow their own stuff, they will starve.
It's coming. Trump will be the last GOP President. Picture the current liberals in charge for about 40 years.

when I was much younger fellow . I worked with a old man who was part of the guards ( I do not recall if he was in the army or national guard ) during the time of rations WWII . he was part of a group who had to guard barges on the Ohio river transporting gas
he said after encounters and the guards started being found next morning with lumps on there head from being knocked out and beaten . they ( guards ) just made sure the locals knew they would just take a break ( bathroom or what ever ) step out of the way and let them take the 10 or 20 gallons of gas not worth the risk . he said it was a lot better than getting hit in the head . they ( guards ) had rifles but no ammo and the people knew it
I am sure many such small incidents and very small % happened . today it would be a total free for all , destruction and rioting, injury and death if even a hint of any rationing was mentioned .

I remember the uproar over odd and even days for gas purchases. The dummys couldn't even plan ahead 1 or 2 days. Also the panic over the fake toilet paper shortage was hysterical. Not to worry tho because after we elect Bernie or Liz everything will be free. Bob
