prepare all the dressings and ready a long pan....pry the jaws apart and reach way down and turn em inside out then coat with all your favorite seasonings...the real trick is to watch the gators eyes as you start to see it it is ready for this too....

I am not sure I would cook it in a crock pot.
I think I would either fry it or cook it on a grill after a marinade. When I was stationed in LA I had it several times and its not too bad. I like frog legs better.

Sam, your hair is unruffled, I see.
Because it went WAY over your head.

had some gator "bites" made of gator tail meat, personally I thought it was tough and fatty not my thing.
I like the crock pot idea but maybe too much for macerating a gator :)

I ate alligator meat at a local Cajun place once. As I took my first bite, I was making jokes at the table with some friends and family. "See ya later alligator" I candidly remarked while chewing away.
The next morning as I flushed, I distinctly remember hearing this voice coming from the commode! "After while crocodile" in a rush of bubbling, swirling water. πΆπ

Haven't had it and don't care too.

Remember: if you had never tried something new, you'd still be deciding between your mother's left one or right one.

Yeah, sometimes it's a bit too puerile. Even for this place.

I'm eating anything she is serving.
I remember her from the Viking Woman Axe throwing thread. God Bless America.

That's because you were a dumb-ass tourist. They likely fried that gator in cod liver oil - and it was probably carp caught in a sewage lagoon. They're still laughing.
Properly cleaned and cooked gator is closer to catfish but with larger muscle fibers.
