Colt just announced Python to be made again

I'm sure they won't be exactly as nice as the older ones but with a $1499 msrp it will be interesting to see what it does to the exploding snake gun market, you can't touch a decent stainless Python for less than $2000 right now.

Looks like they are doing a 6in and a 4.25.

    I doubt it will lower the price much unless these new ones are very well fitted. The good news is they will have a box!

    I sold my old 1978 6" Blue Python to a dealer at a show a couple yrs back. He had a whole table full of them. Super high prices. I went by and he couldn't wait to purchase it for $2600 with no box. Lucky me, I turned around and purchased a 1983 6" Colt PeaceKeeper ( strike gun ) in perfect condition for $500. I highly doubt the new Pythons are built cheap.

    Will it out shoot my Ruger GP 100? I like the old colts. smooth actions, but I've never noticed them shooting any better than a good Smith or Ruger. When it comes down to it a the Smith and Ruger action aren't that bad and can be smoothed out with a little work or a lot of use. One I have no idea why they sale so high are the Dan Wessons, again I like them but they're really nothing that special.

    The thing I like best about Colt Pythons like most Colt revolvers is the crazy amount folks will pay for them when I sell them. Tried my first one back in the seventies and thought there were much better double action revolvers available. Nothing has changed my mind. They are pretty but for me S&W and Ruger make better shooters.

    I have had Pythons and Anacondas and neither was any better than a M29 or a M586 S&W.

    Many people have been buying snake guns as investments, this is going to drop the value pretty much overnight once the first ones hit the market.

    I wonder if they can/will match the quality of the old ones. If so, will they continue to do so with a high demand to crank out the product?? This can be good news and bad news for Colt.

    I bought one of their "new" King Cobras. The configuration was never made in the orginal production. 3" barrel, Stainles, 6 rounds, rubber grips, probably by Hogue, front sight has a brass dot inset. The quality is very good. It is not an original, but for carry purposes I think it is a better choice. I expect the new Python to be different, not confusable with the original production, but still a high quality .357. I will hold out for an original of those.
