Some counter battery activity will solve this rather quickly.

Hezbollah warns Iraqi Security Forces to stay away from US bases.

That should tell you all you need to know about the state of the Government in Iraq.

If the US bases don't have counter battery radar and a dedicated counter battery asset the commanders should be fired.

We have a radar that will plot the origin of a mortar round or a rocket. It does this biased on its trajectory, once you know where it originated from you fire your artillery at that spot and kill/wound the gunners and destroy the weapon. When I was in it was a TRKY-32 I believe but I am sure its been upgraded to a newer model. Most of the bases I was on used a 120mm Mortar battery to fire counter battery missions. They would also dispatch gunships and ground forces to the spot but the mortar shells would get there 1st.

We also have a CWIS type weapon that is 20mm Vulcan cannon with a radar that detects rockets and shells coming into its area. It then fires at the shells and destroys them or deflects them. It uses different ammo than the ship board CWIS, the rounds self destruct after traser burnout.

I was interested in going in for the Vulcan weapons system when I enlisted. The major drawback to me was that it was predominately mounted on the M113APC. Not a very survivable platform. IMHO.

Several nukes over there on all that sand in Iraq, Afganistan and Iran would be great.

Turn the whole place into one huge sheet of glass.

    Benefits are two fold ...

    1. Eliminate tens of thousands that want to kill all who don't follow their ideology.

    2. Glass reflects the suns rays so an aid in reducing global warming.

OK, why can't we see the video feed from the drone? Everyone knows we have it.

They showed a drone strike video feed on Fox News last night.

Figure out a way to wire it up and turn it into the worlds largest photovoltaic array. We could power the whole world!

Well if they hide in populated areas and The military sets this system in motion and returns fire and get collateral damage then we are just going to have the Iraqi government become very mad. But then They have told us to get out now anyway, and they do not wish The USA Armed forces to stay.

So Trump can either get the military out or Just take over the whole country and occupy the oil Fields. I doubt the Democrats will agree so now we will be trapped again in another failure of use of military power to gain anything of value for our side.

The USA government is definitely inept in gaining any advantage either with the use of force or diplomacy! Another Vietnam is all we get,no solutions, Just Chaos. And we lose American's lives over it.

This is one time I mostly agree with you.

Go large and do the job 100%, or go home. Nation building, and playing cops for the world is getting old.

Amazing serf posted more than once on a single thread.

Typical serf either just being an idiot or as usual not understanding the technology. The system is not spray and pray. It will return a mortar round pretty much right down the tube that just fired at you. Anyone inside frag range of that tube is not a friendly by definition and therefore a clean kill not collateral damage.

    Try again...

Are you saying that a 60 mm tube set on top of a school or hospital, fires 3 rounds then moves , would be a target for return fire? We're not talking WW2 here or even Viet Nam.

The FOG of War and I think the proxy wars are about over. Iran only wishes now to remove the Israel government leaders instead of killing all of them.Of course total war dictates that all targets are viable targets. All governments with their back against the wall will practice it.

Also, our proxy government in Iraqi is/was a farce to begin with so the real fighting is just beginning.

Trump is only doing what he sees as viable. The son of perdition is coming with a big peace plan after some Chaos, believe it or not.

In an announcement regarding Israel's recent signing of a tripartite agreement on natural gas with Cyprus and Greece, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to have a slip of the tongue by referring to "Israel as a "nuclear power though he quickly corrected himself to "energy power."
Israel has long maintained a policy of nuclear ambiguity, while also never officially denying or admitting to the possession of nuclear weapons, often repeating that Israel will not be the first country to introduce nuclear weapons to the Middle East.

The Warning System is still in place but the CRam guns are gone. Pretty sure they left with the Obama troop withdrawal. At least that was the case 5 years ago when I was at the Baghdad Embassy and Basra Consulate.

Personally I have NO problem with Israel being a Nuclear power. They are only smart to keep that on the down low. They are determined on a strategy of "Never Again." Who can blame them? I will not.

Israel has been very smart in general, in the defense of it's Nation. We could learn a lot from them. Kick A$$ and take names. "F" Nation Building.
