Letter From The Sheriff

Just renewed mine last week - $50 (2nd renewal, 3rd card). Sat right outside the Sheriff's office and waited while they called in my BG check. I've never really had a conversation with the Sheriff but he recognized me from hanging out at the gun shop and said hello.

We get 6 months billed $10 per month late fees for a period of 6 months after the expiration before you have to start from scratch.

Came in handy on my last renewal as I was out of the country at the time.

Once saw a Judge in court throw out a charge of carrying without a license on a guy who's license had been expired for over a year. The Judge said expired license didn't mean "no" license, just expired........maybe they were friends...don't know, but I like that kind of thinking :D

Another BS law. God granted rights do not require payment for privileges. All gun laws are un-Constitutional period.

Ala requires no training or anything to renew. one of the most gun friendly States I know. I renew mine every 5 years. Lost my wallet and stopped by for another CCW, it took about three minutes. No charge.

Ala is also an open carry State. Carry anywhere except post office, govt buildings, schools, etc.

Can carry in any other place regardless of owners policy.

Open carry and concealed carry is legal in this state without any stinking permit.

Also, no government entity within the state can pass any restrictions greater than the state laws.

For travel outside the state, have a concealed carry permit (had one for decades) that requires completing a one page information sheet, no class or training requirement and costs $10 for a 5 year permit. This meets the reciprocity requirement for a number of other states.

ONLY one reason for a firearm permit .. same as a hunting/fishing/vehicle license .... so the state takes more of your money. It's simply another tax regardless of what it's called.

Mine is up for renewal soon. I can renew online once I am closer than 90 days to the expiration. Something to do this week.

Yes it's a tax, maybe even a slush fund for all the courthouse residents to party on :o , yet they call it an application fee . Heaven forbid you dare ask where the money goes.......you might not get'em....

Its time to renew my CCW for the 3rd time. In NC we have to do it every 5 years.

Its 75 dollars if you renew it before the expiration date. After the expiration date its 90 dollars and you have 60 days.

After 60 days you have to repeat the whole process even class.

    Another way to get money.

The sheriff sends a letter when your concealed carry permit is about to expire?

    Never heard of such.

Missouri is also Constitutional Carry - no permit required for CCW or Open.

    However...
I travel to other states and like being able to carry in those states, so I keep my CCW up to date.

The CCW license allows me to ignore posted no guns allowed signs. Then there is the Federal Gun Free School Zone Act of 1990 that my CCW license protects me from.

In NC we also have open carry but i prefer ccw.

My CCW expires in April. Im to lazy to get the exact date. LOL

I guess or state or county wants to make sure they get that extra money.

Does everyone in NC get reminder letters or just Nash county.

I did not know it was expiring until a transfer last month and he told me.
