Smoked salsa

Warbirds
Hit the farmers market today. It is about time for me to go back to work, but this turned out good- so here ya go!

Started with tomatoes, habaneros, jalape?os, red peppers sweet onion & garlic.

Throw it on the Big Green Egg, today over Pecan @225.
Veggies were on the egg for 40 minutes or so today.

Drop everything in the food processor and add cilantro.

    That looks REALLY good.

    Nothing much better than corn chips (Tostitos) and some good salsa.

    I agree until the Tostitos part, I eat salsa like a mad man, and I have found that the generic brands of tortilla chips from Aldi are my favorite, and next would be the restaurante style in the ethnic food sections. I truly do not like the mainstream brands of tortilla chips. They are kind of like yuppie beers such as Bud Light and Miller Lite, watered down from the real stuff. IMHO of course :)

    I was wondering about that myself. I like hot stuff. (But) With the amount of Habenero's in that mix - I'd venture to say, that was some pretty hot stuff.

    I heard you Brother. I mentioned Tostitos, because most people are familiar with them re. "Corn chips."

    My favorite, recently discovered, are the generic Food Lion brand of wavy corn chips. 99cents/bag, much better than the name brand stuff. I have been scarfing them down with Onion dip. I do have a jar of high end Black Bean Salsa I need to break out. :D

    I tried veggies on the grates of my grill and lost most of them into the coals when they got soft. So I got inventive and borrowed the broiler pan under my oven\stove. It fit perfectly atop my big Webber and I use it a lot for fish and sea food as well! Anything that falls through the grid of the broiler pan gets captured in the pan below. All of the smoke flavor is there and no more lost eats! :D

    Two things:

    Grunt, I'm glad you don't have the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap. I do, and it utterly ruins anything I eat with cilantro in it.

    Brookwood, you really, really need Grill Grates. BEST addition to any grill, ever. See the bazillion youtube vids on them for proof.

    Thanks Rocky for the tip! I thought I was being quite inventive using something that I already had and not spending additional $$. At the time of my discovery using the broiler pan, I had a meal to cook with company coming. It worked out so well that I have used it quite often.

    As an oven accessory, I very rarely use it anyway and I keep it clean as a whistle using it more.

    Some time we need to meet up, and I will bring you a jar of our homemade salsa from my garden. I grew all the stuff and my wife would make the salsa. The batches with corn and black beans are awesome.
