How do you find people?
Use to be, if you knew a person's name and where they lived, it was pretty easy to find someone you'd lost touch with. Sometimes as easy as calling an operator and asking for the person by name.
In today's world, social media - despite its many drawbacks - is a great way to keep in touch with people (compared to writing names, numbers, and addresses in a physical address book). I use both Facebook and LinkedIn for both personal & professional connections, communication, and networking. But when I can't find someone I'd like to get back in touch with, I don't know where else to turn.
We have a 30th high school reunion coming up, and there are many classmates our planning committee (me) can't find on social media. Short of paying for questionable internet search services (or private investigators! 😄), are there truly any free methods of locating my fellow Americans?

I use this site. 100% Free People Search, Free People Finder - TruePeopleSearch.com
It can get a bit scary at times when you see how many people share the same names but if you know a bit about them, even a family member, it can help you to zero in on your target.
Back in my early WWW days, it was a lot simpler to find people. The old White Pages were easy to navigate and it was all FREE. Now days a lot of places want money.
I really miss NAPSTER the music place! 🙂

Right?! White Pages was my resource, as well!
Thanks for the link, I'll try it!

The last time I did something like this, I contacted those that I could and asked them to pass on my email address to those they could contact. A surprising number of people I couldn't locate on my own responded. Friends keep track of some friends who keep track of a few more, and so on. Those few that remained a mystery probably hadn't been in contact for many years with their old class mates and may not have participated anyway. Good luck. Bob

I find them mostly okay, some are dear friends, some are friends from the past. Some are held in contempt, nobody is hated but they may have done something I detest. Most strangers are pleasant and if not that is alright too.
Check criminal record data bases to find lost people. It is amazing how many folks have a record for stupid errors in judgement like a DUI or some such matter.

Is that because you gave up working at the nunnery?

Just go to Google, google FREE people finder and go to the "White Pages" listing. You need the state they are resigning in however. Beyond basic info. you will probably have to pay a fee.

I usually just buy another pack (of two). When I put the "extra" one in "that place", I find the one I knew I already had.
Oh . . . . wait . . . . that might be vacuum cleaner belts. My bad.
Sometimes I can find stuff in the "junk drawer", but it normally has too much stuff in it to store people.

That is because you don't pick them up in bars any longer.

I use True People Search mentioned above in combination with Fast People Search, sometimes White Pages, property tax records if I know the city/county and rarely social media.
