Garden starting to produce!
Radishes always grow fast, the other things are gonna take awhile longer but are starting to bloom (tomatoes, peppers). The leaf spinach is getting big enough to start picking some, but need ideas on how to prepare it?

I'm on my 2nd crop, finished with the turnips, cabbage, onions, red potato's, cauliflower 😠(for the wife). Already a month into the beans, peas, tomatoes, corn, squash, okra and now getting all the canning stuff located and washed. The meat is still walking around eating 😊 Your radishes are looking good.

since i live in the great northland, im about two weeks away from my first produce. its been a struggle this year with all the rain. had a big storm come thru yesterday and knock all the corn down. maybe it will stand back up just have to wait and see.

...Spinnach,,,,iron skillet works great...melt just enough bacon grease to just barely cover skillet...while grease is hot, BEFORE it smokes, toss in some spinach and stir until it just begins to wilt...good stuff...or just put in a steamer with a touch of onion powder and/or garlic powder (NOT O or G SALT)...

I might get to plant in a couple of weeks, if the foot of snow in the garden melts by then.

We tried the radishes last night in a salad, I was a little disappointed they were very bland but they added some crunch to it.

Ruger4me: Located in South Georgia, @ 50 miles North of the Florida state line. I started planting my cool weather vegetables in january, most are 65-100 day harvest time then as we harvest those I prep the soil & re-fertilize and then plant our spring vegetables asap. Then repeat the process for fall & winter crops. Most years I try to plant my sweet corn starting Feb. 15th that way I can get 2 crops in but this year has been wet and cool so it was Mar. 1st. but I'm still looking/trying for 2. Everything is growing a lot slower this year due to the high / low temp. swings but our rains are looking good so far. It's a lot of constant work but it's definitely a money saver & it keeps the wife out of the grocery store and my family and eldery neigbors fed. Everyone on here should give it a try 😊

I haven't tilled mine yet. It was plowed and disked but didn't get anything planted. It's supposed to rain here for the next eight days. I hope Walmart still sells vegetables.

I finally tilled and planted Saturday here in south-central Minnesota -- tomatoes and peppers. We've had overnight frost until the last few nights; average last frost date here is May 15, so I'm taking a slight chance, but I can cover things if needed.

Here in northern lower Michigan the time to plant is Memorial Day Weekend. A few years I've had frost as late as June 8th!

I need to plant some Pecan trees so I'll have some shade to work under................😀

dcon12 That's looking really good! and on a scale much bigger than I'm trying with... I decided to get back into this on a very small scale to see if I could get it to work, only 2 4' x 8' raised beds as a start.

Texas1911DE finally got around to trying your method(s) for fresh spinach. I kinda combined the two you suggested, I wilted in bacon grease then turn off heat and stired in a little onion powder and garlic powder topped with some butter and we both loved it! And the other half doesn't even like cooked spinach usually. Thanks again.

Aztngundoc22 my tomato plants are just starting to fruit, I have about 7 or soon little maters about the size of dimes to quarters.
