As close as the carb connections are, can't you just swap them real fast?

I would think they are on the right pipes since you wacked the yard. maybe a carb adjustment.

the short line is a fuel return to the tank. just needs to be long enough to b inside the tank. do you have the correct tool to adjust the mixture? i fix a lot of these things and find if it wont adj correctly or for a lot of other problems the best course of action is just to replace the carb, fuel lines, filter. these parts are very available and reasonably priced on the net, usually as a kit. you can also buy a set of tools to adjust the carb mixture.

If its a carb problem I shouldve just ordered a new carb too.... it wouldve only been another $7 for a new carb and fuel filter. I dont have the tool to adjust the carb but never dreamed it would need all that from just changing the leaking grommet. I could be wrong and thats why Im asking for help. I have now took the carb apart and cleaned it out, Thinking maybe got garbage in carb before I started the replacement. I blew everything out out and cleaned everything real good as I went along. I dont have another fuel filter and thats what Im leaning towards. Its the original about 10-12 years old.

BUT wanted your opinions cause the filter is $7 locally and that whole set on amazon is $16.25. That will be a new carb and all.

the leaking grommet and possible failing carb are not directly related but as the carb ages it will need some adjustment to keep up. new carbs usually come in adjusted fairly close to right but if you continue to use the gas engines it helps to learn how to adjust them. has saved the day many times for me.

Run ethanol free fuel and your small engines will be happier.

I never use ethanol in any engine I own. In fact Ive only used the canned premix fuel in this weedeater and my leaf blower..
