REMINGTON 1903 SCOPE MOUNT

I have a customer who wants me to install scope mounts and scope on this rifle. Whats the best was to go-one piece or 2 and brand of bases and rings so as it will set high enough to miss bolt handle. Thx

    I think a couple of mine have Redfield one-piece bases. Weaver 2 piece also work fine. Ring height is a try and see fit process due to the variety of scope eyepiece diameters.

    Be advised those receivers can be very hard. Drill bits have improved over the past few years so may be a bit that will cut through the hard steel. I don't recommend "spot annealing" due to a catastrophic blow up that resulted from over annealing a P-17 Enfield for D&T.

    The Redfield 1-piece mount, as used by the US military on the 1903A4 sniper rifle, must be shimmed at the front of the mount. And, you may need to drill through the serial number & re-stamp it. And, Mobuck is right, that receiver is hard.

    There is a place called S&K Scope mounts that sells a no drill mount that I have used on several 1903's. It is solid, holds zero and prevents the destruction (by drilling) of the historic value of a receiver.
