Asking about masking ones user name reeks of something hinky to me.

It is only masked when you are looking while not logged in I believe.

Masking bidder's usernames? If I'm locked in a bidding duel over Dale Earnhardt's leaf blower, I need to know the competition.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but didn't Gun Broker test the blocking of bidder names until the auction closed, at which time they'd be revealed? The seller could view the bidder's name during the auctions, but other bidders could not. This might have been four or five years back. It proved unpopular and didn't last long.
In the meantime, I have Dale's lawnmower and his edger...I have to get that leaf blower!

Beware Mark! That blower you are bidding on is an electric model! 😲 Everybody knows Dale would only choose a leaf blower that runs on high octane gas! 😁
