What I see in the Bluebook is "brand name revolver mfg by Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works sold thru the wholesale trade, never listed in any IJ catalog, although it was listed in some European catalogs as an original Iver Johnson Product, main serial number located on left side of grip frame. Mfg 1910 - 1935."

It's not really a scarce or valuable gun; I don't think that it's a good candidate for restoration.

But, it's your gun & you should do with it what you want.

Not New Jersey, but NY may be the closest that you can come for expert restoration:

    Turnbull Restoration Company, Inc.
Firearm Restoration & Manufacturing. Antique restoration and bluing services. Featuring Colt 1911 and 1886 Winchester manufactured reproductions .

EDIT: Your gun was made to fire .32 S&W smokeless cartridges, but I would not do so without first having it examined by a competent gunsmith. We know that it was not always stored under ideal conditions, but a gunsmith's lighted bore scope would allow him to judge any deterioration of the bore. (Never try to shoot .32 auto, or any other ammo in your gun.)

I love it the way it is, character and age, beautiful.

Also, is it safe to fire modern ammunition?

IMO, 32 short S&W as long as it is tight lockup they should work fine. Although I wouldn't be at the range daily with it as they are just not made to shoot all the time. And be careful if you do with those pearls as they do crack.
