S&W Model 39 Question

I inherited this unfired pistol about 12 years ago and just put it in a safe. Looking at it this week I see that it's a steel frame but most were alloy. I'll look on the auction side but most will probably be alloy. Is there something wrong with the steel frame model? Maybe it's just a weight and cost issue. I plan on putting it on the auction side but hate to start it at $1.00 like many folks do. Any opinions appreciated.

    Only a little over 900 of the steel frame ones were made I seen one go for over 3000 on another auction site but it was mint with a box that was also in great shape

    WOW, finding a steel frame in the safe, quite extraordinary. Good on you and yes if it is a clean one it will bring a good buck. I have have had several 39-59 series and can't complain about them. nice pieces imo.

    I haven't been able to find a site where I can lookup year of manufacture. Can someone offer a link?

    if it's a really nice condition 39... Wow , worth a lot more money compared to same condition alloy Frame.
