357 lever action rifle ammunition

What type of ammunition should be used? The magazine is a tube.

  I usually shoot a Federal FMJ High Velocity through my Henry for plinking.

  Also keep some Horonady Leverevolution which does seem to do better at longer ranges.

  Obviously what you are shooting at and at what distance will make a difference as to your choice.

  I just shoot what ever I shoot trough my pistol. Hornady makes the leverevolution ammo which has the soft tip making it safe for tube magazines and more aerodynamic than regular 357 ammo.

  Ive got 2 of these ( lever action .357s ) :

  Have only shot a few .357 ammo in these , Mostly shot .38 spl. ammo !

  With this ammo kafuffel : havent shot much of anything lately !

  It mostly depends on your preferences and intents. Just about any .357mag or .38spc should work fine. Even the hottest .357 loads should have no recoil issues. Personally, I don't load anything except flat-nosed ammo in a tubular magazine. Why take a risk?

  If you are thinking home defense, a .357 lever gun can't be beat in my opinion. I keep a 16-inch Marlin 1894 loaded with 8 rounds of 180 grain +P .357s ready to handle any 2 or 4 legged threats that may come to my door.

  you're gonna have to dig into savings,, they have gone outta sight the last few years pricewise. The rossi and other copies are now getting the same price as a good marlin or winchester did few years ago, and the name brands are totally out of sight.......

  Stick to jacketed bullets.

  Spot on, especially if you are using factory ammo. Have yet to see any factory 357 SWC or lead ammo that did not severely lead the bore. Removing lead from a 4" pistol is tough enough, just imagine an 18" rifle. Please dont ask me how I know.

  
  

  You can get by with reloading hard cast, gas checked bullets if they are the same diameter as your bore and keep your speed down.
