I would wager just one of many lined up to get a piece of the pie ( or well money )

they had to know it was going to happen I remember the insurance company ? or some one commenting on the insurer for the ship saying it was going to millions of dollars a day

I wonder why the Suez Canal Authority has no liability in this. Unless I'm mistaken they required 2 of their own pilots to be hired, for a hefty fee I'm sure, to board and pilot the ship through the canal.

    Why are they blameless?

Interesting- the claim is for $900 million

Which includes $300 million for Suez Canal “loss of reputation”

and $300 million for a “salvage bonus”.

I also noticed while the ship is seized the crew is not allowed to leave. Wow!

Like the monkey said as he peed into the cash register.....This is going to run into some money.

Knowing the Egyptian mentality as I do, the pilots were

    In the mess Eating

    In their cabin sleeping

or using prayer time as an excuse to be in their cabin surfing on wifi

Likely anywhere but on the bridge.

Those guys who are hired to take you to the Great Pyramids on camels and then jack up their fees for the return trip are what make Egypt the golden land of opportunity! 😲

I have been wondering about all the stuff that was being shipped aboard that vessel.
