Posts containing links or references to any web site we do not like.

I don't know of any specifically, but if someone on staff has beef with any such site then they should let me know.

I recall there were a few fringe news sites that became no-nos. I think WND was one such. I can't recall now what other ones there were.

    Good reminders here Mark.

    Nice catch, Mr. P.

I'd forgotten about the forum software being programed by HQ to specifically exclude certain sites from even making it into the forums. What I do remember is a few members crying their eyes out and claiming that they've been censored ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

    Hear, hear, Mark.

I've never understood why some people feel the fences of the playground don't apply to them - until they are shown the gate.

Ah yes the auto censor did accomplish that. If I recall correctly, indirect links were allowed (using tiny url, for example). I believe the main beef was with direct links. FWIW, I'm not sure I really ever understood that.

No one really did. Not surprisingly, after the censored members had wiped away their tears (I keep a box of tissue handy for that purpose) and were directly questioned as to the website they tried to link in, not one could remember the site. There was a way to override the block and post the content in the forums, but I instructed the staff not to do so.

It's unfortunate that your post was even necessary, Mark. Some new members just check the box and go from there. These are probably the same folks that open a box and start assembling a device without reading assembly instructions. I saw one just a day or two ago.

I hope all of you moderators and administrators are getting paid well for all of this. โ˜บ๏ธ

As an ex-moderator, it was like herding cats with bad attitudes, you can't make some folks happy and get some others to understand rules. The Moderator pay was awesome and based upon the abuse we were able to suck up and not go ballistic.
