OK I'm officially on the Government take now LOL
I got my first Social Security check today deposited in my Checking account without even leaving the house!
I hope I live long enough to collect more then they took plus interest.

The last few times I ran the calculations, most retirees got their (& their employers) money back in 3 years.

I intend to live so long medicare and social security puts a contract out on me. So far so good.

True confession of an absolute dummy here- If you did not already know- IF you have other income beyond Social Security (and i hope to God you do) then up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed, depending on your income. And they do not withhold taxes unless you ask them.
When I reached full retirement age, I continued working one more year, but was drawing SS- no taxes withheld. Come tax time- found I owed Uncle Sugar $9 grand. Uh- excuse me? I WHAT??? Da hell you say!!!
And if everybody else already knew that- I SAID I was an absolute dummy already. But if you did not, that can be a nasty surprise.
