    There are several differences, the front and rear sights being among the most obvious. The Model A rear sight is the same as used on the 10" SMG and tends to shoot high with a 16 inch barrel. There are some internal differences as well, primarily centering on the bolt and with an additional safety device added to the bolt of the Model B to prevent the gun from firing out of battery. This also makes it much more difficult to convert a Model B to select fire than the earlier Model A. This is essentially irrelevant now, but prior to May 1986, when it was legal to convert semi autos to full auto, the Model A appealed for those wishing to make the conversion. There's more, like minor differences in the sling swivels, but I think that covers the basics.
