Now that you know what the perp had previously done, what would you reasonably think he was diving back into the vehicle to get?

A stick of gum? A piece of paper and pencil to to pen his college application?

Does this knowledge change your view or perspective on what happened?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

I am not carrying any water for the criminal. Sounds like some real scum.

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't understand how that large officer could not get the cuffs on that bag of bones thug.

Oddly enough, if you wanted to know what the warrant was for, you had to do an online search.

The mass media didn't seem to think or feel it was important enough to make known.

Gee whiz, TAFKAD, what happened in the past has no bearing on the now.

He was not robbing anyone on the day he was shot.

Why don't you believe in justice?

This question is why I never used or liked the green font, Alpine. Telling someone you are being sarcastic is like leading off a joke with the punch line.

What happened in the past not only had a great deal to do with how he reacted, but also had a great deal to do with how the police reacted.

Absent a warrant, it would have been a normal traffic stop for expired registration (depending upon who you believe), and he would not have been placed under arrest.

Absent a warrant, he probably would not have tried to flee.

Absent a warrant the police would not have known about him being charge with a violent robbery and the potential for him having a firearm, meaning.

Given there was an outstanding warrant and that he had carried a firearm in the past, the police were justifiably concerned when he jumped back into the car. He placed them in an untenable situation and died for his foolishness.

This is not to excuse the officer for mistaking a Glock for a Taser. In her defense, however, both are plastic, clunky, and fairly lightweight.

Crap, there goes that green font thing again.

It is a bad situation, she had only a couple seconds, to decide. Under pressure she used her gun instead of a Taser, big mistake no one is perfect. If he would of stood there he would still be alive, no one knew what he had in his car. If he would of turned around and started shooting there were a few police eating lead.

As far as the protesting while I don't get it but once you start damaging things it is not a protest it is a riot. In 1968 MLK was shot, and they started riots all over. I was just back from training, in the National Guard we were sent to Chicago. It was a mess if the store front window had Soul Brother written on it there was no damage. The next one broken glass looted, and quite often burned. Mayor Daley put up with it for a while then gave them a specified amount of time to quit. They continued to loot, and burn. Mayor Daley told them to stop or we will shoot. They shot a few, and that ended the riots. Wish some of these other Mayors had a set like him, instead of letting the mobs control.

I believe that the big officer's problem was that the perp was wearing a shirt with long sleeves. You don't want to put the cuff on top of a sleeve (the perp can later pull up his sleeve & slip his hand out of the cuff). While the officer was trying to pull the sleeve up & simultaneously apply the cuff, he accidentally released his twist hold on the perp's right hand. The perp was then able to wriggle away & into the drivers seat.

It was a rookie mistake, but then, he was a rookie.

The fact that this has been determined an accident is of no concern to the dead guy.

If you Dr. removes your heart instead of your tonsils by mistake, is that just an oops ...... sorry.

    Dead is dead

Cops and/or Drs are trained (for years and years and years) not to kill folks by accident.

The guy was a scumbag for sure but he was a scumbag with rights, the same rights we all share.

I've seen videos of drunken white soccer moms being combative during their arrest but no one shot (or tazed) them.

"looks like another cop murder to me", your words, bullshot.

Big difference between an accident and an intentional murder.

"The guy was a scumbag for sure but he was a scumbag with rights, the same rights we all share."

Yes he was, and once again, had he simply complied with the officers none of this would be an issue. He is the one responsible for this entire scenario. Did the cop screw up? Yes, bigly. We all do. What would be the outcome if the same officer had accidentally hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk and the pedestrian died? Dead's dead, right? Would you have the same level of outrage, would cities be on fire?
