Winchester model 1873
I have a winchester model 1873 with what I thought was a set trigger. Not sure what it is. The other 73 I have there is a small screw that goes in and out to put pressure on the trigger. This is just a round pin goes in and out but does not screw either way. When the lever come down it does touch the pin. Again would love any help I can get. Thanks

You are not speaking of the lever lock?

After the early production guns, Winchester added a spring loaded pin that drops a block behind the trigger to prevent the trigger being pulled unless the lever is fully up, pushing the pin back in and removing the trigger block. There should not be any screw such as you describe. Unless you are talking about the rotating piece that catches the rear lip of the lever to keep it closed, but that is a long way away from the trigger.

Thats a trigger block safety and on guns that have a set trigger they do not have the trigger block.

It is a safety trigger block that seems to be working as it should. Is this something that all 73 had or just special order. Thanks everyone.

The first model 73's didn't have a trigger block. It wasn't until the second model guns when they changed the lever to have the flat at the front of the finger loop that they started with the trigger block safety. It continued for the rest of its production. If they had a set trigger they couldn't have the trigger block. It was a standard feature.
