I had one years ago and wish I had never sold it. Of course i don't need it, I already have two 243 rifles, a H&R single shot and a Remington 700.

I really like 788's. I have sold almost all my hunting guns but I have kept 4 788's; 6mm Rem, 222 Rem, 22-250 and a 308. I have had the 6mm and 222 the longest. I got them when i was working in MT. They have booth killed their fair share of stuff. People always bad mouth the 6mm but I like it better than a 243. If you handload you can make it really go.

I thought the 788 was introduced in 1967. Am I wrong?

I've never had a 6mm but have had people tell me they prefer it to .243. Due to a bulk purchase from someone getting out the .243 business I have 1500+ rounds of hunting grade .243, a lot of it premium stuff. IIRC I have about $8 a box in it. So I'll be shooting .243 for awhile.

Another advantage is you can neck 257 Rbts or 7mm Mauser to 6mm Rem easy.
I always wanted one in 7mm-08 and 30-30.
