April fools jokes
Is anybody planning any good April fool joke on anybody today?
-
My wife woke me up this morning telling me we had 2 feet of snow overnight. 😲
She has been acting very crabby the last couple of weeks so I am very happy to see she still has some sense of humor left!

There will be none from me. I think that pranks are the "lite" version of sadism.

The best one I ever did way back when, I left a message on my sister's answering machine saying I'd been contacted by the Jerry Springer show and they had asked if we were related.

Many years ago my sisters would wait 'til the folks retired for the evening, then slip downstairs and exchange the contents of the sugar bowl for salt. Dad was up early every morning, had to have his coffee first thing. They did this every year & he never remembered 'til he took the first slug.........

The dumbest one I heard of was the woman at work who called her sister and said that a guy at work who was fired came back with a gun. She said she was hiding in a locked room. So the sister instantly hung up and dialed 911, causing a lot of people and weaponry to descend upon the business.
But it was all a hoax, and the woman said her sister had over-reacted and called in the troops before she could explain her funny prank.
She ended up getting arrested.

OK Historians-Where & why did April 1st become an "April fools" joke day?

Although the day, also called All Fools’ Day, has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, its exact origins remain a mystery...
Some historians speculate that April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. People who were slow to get the news or failed to recognize that the start of the new year had moved to January 1 and continued to celebrate it during the last week of March through April 1 became the butt of jokes and hoaxes...

I believe the very first April Fools Day joke occurred way back when Sir Francis Drake took off his coat and placed it over the mud puddle for Queen Elizabeth I to walk over.
Turns out the mud puddle was a 6 foot deep chuck hole! 😂
For some strange coincidence, another historical phrase was started that very same day. "Off with his head" became quite a common quote for many years to come!
