I had to cheat I knew coal was big in the area but a lot bigger then I thought but that was before I was born looks like and I have a few old tokens with the towns name or coal scrip form some of the mines any way .

when i was born at the local hospital I was told they had no baby beds / cribs so I was put in a dresser drawer in the room with my mom, no wonder I grew up afraid of the dark LOL

any way cheating with the internet I found this

throughout the 1890s and early 1900s, "my birth town " was one of the most productive coal fields in Kentucky and Tennessee

Cherry Capital of the World. Well, it used to be back when I was born. Now a tourist trap where visitors don't go home!

I'm pretty sure that "The Brothers Four" wrote their song "Poverty Hill" about my home town.
