Yeah. The same thing happened to me. Magically $2,800.00 showed up in my checking account. I have never used that account to pay IRS. Showed up as "IRS Salary Payment".

    Curious.

Same here ! they just refreshed our memories as to their abilities. I am self employed and use a different account for buisness , the covid money was deposited into an account that has never been used for any IRS dealings at all.

If you are getting Social Security deposited electronically then they have your account info.

The government has got it all on their subjects they just play dumb until they need you for a investigation or inquiry. Our smart phones with A.I. is the biggest snitch/eaves dropper ever created and if they say they don't data mine they are lying.

Legally, they can't do that; you have to sign up for direct deposit (& the accompanying right to withdraw from your account). Not that "illegal" has ever bother the fascist part firmly entrenched in the federal government.

I think that I would close my bank account, just in case it is a sophisticated phishing scheme.

    for us

    1st stimulus=paper check

    2nd stimulus=debit card

3rd stimulus=direct deposit (same account as s/s deposited to)

Same thing happened here. Second stimulus was a debit card and I called the number on the card and had the money transferred to a checking account. Lo and behold, Judy checked that account today and magically there was a stimulus payment credited to it yesterday. I figure it was because I gave them that account number last time when I called to have the debit cards funds transferred. Bob

Don't think for one minute that every bank account you have along with the activity in it isn't known to Uncle Sam LOL

To add to the great mystery of our benevolent IRS Big Brother, I was expecting a 302 dollar refund from my STATE for income tax overpayment. Nothing due from the Feds. Yesterday a direct deposit for the STATE refund and the Fed stimulus all in one swoop deposited. Not separate transactions. 😮

    I just checked my account.

I feel like Charlie Brown at Halloween, but without the rock.

When you open a bank account you are required to provide ID including SSN.......banking activity is well able to be observed by the govt.

I would hope most would give it back or spread it around. I am using mine on the single moms club and puppies.

Government computers run full time. If there's nothing else for them to do, they run SS#'s vs ID's on bank accounts/savings bonds/unpaid parking tickets/anything with a number or identifier.

You made me check. I hadn't noticed but they deposited ours three days ago. The last one they sent to a bank account I had closed. Just when I was about to give up & claim it on this Infernal Revenue return I got a check from them.
