got to wonder was it because we can do it to show off or because something on board they did not want to wonder off

I wonder why it’s sitting on the ship upside down?

I agree mac10. Cause of the accident is important but there is probably more to this.

I dunno, this whole thing stinks to me.

First, why would the air crew have been transporting anything classified? This was ship to shore.

Second, if the helo went down and all souls got off safely, and they were transporting classified intel, it wouldn't have remained on board. Couriers are trained for this.

Third, if it went down in 19,075 feet of seawater, why aren't the 3 visible tires collapsed? We're talking pressures of greater than 8,269 PSI on the seabed.

    Sorry, I don't buy it.

Aircraft tires are have heavy side walls, even when deflated with no weight on them they look normal. I suppose they were squished at depth but popped back into shape as the pressure decreased. We get smooched tires in all the time. They flatten them, banding them together for compact shipment. Once the bands get cut they pop back into shape.

Makes you really wonder? Why haven't they recovered all those lost WW2 B-17's B-25' and Fighers at the bottom of the Salton Sea in California? Some still have all crew members aboard in relatively shallow water. Google it or look on YouTube

Sigh...why must everything be a conspiracy to some of you? There were two valid reasons for this recovery: to help establish the cause of the crash (as clearly stated in the article) and to validate the deep-water recovery effectiveness of the recovery vehicle they used.

This doesn't look like a conspiracy to me Rocky. Looks just like what they said it was.

The flip side, can anyone give me one reason to trust our government??

I wonder why it’s sitting on the ship upside down?

Because chances are good that it settled on the bottom in that attitude. When remotely attaching the cables 19,000+ feet below the surface I'm pretty sure getting it flipped upright was not high on the priority list.

As Neo alluded, all the heavy stuff - engine and transmission - are mounted in the roof of a helicopter. In a water landing, they almost always turn over immediately.

Anybody stationed at Subic in the early 70s remember the P-3 that crashed in the bay?It was out of the water and dragged on the beach within hours.I always thought there was something that needed to be gotten off the plane in a hurry because it was still beached months later when I left.
