It has a great trigger too. The action is very smooth and it loads real slick.

    Another nice one Ricci/Sam.

If I did not already own a nice Ruger .44mag Carbine, to pair up w/my SBH, I'd be looking hard at that.

    Very nice.

What makes that an alligator gun? Mine are Winchester, I think that was before alligators were invented. They are just deer rifles.

I was told it had killed some gators.

"I shot some hogs, then I shot some dogs, then I shot some frogs, then I shot some Deer, then I shot some Alligators, then..................................................😂

Sorry, I could not make it all rhyme, in time.

I accounted for about 15 hogs with that gun. I shot 2 gators with it. One was in my yard trying to eat my dog the other was a small one I ran into hog hunting(I ate the tails of both and the small one was used as Crawfish Bait). All were shot using a 250gr Hard cast SWC-KT with a gas check, 21gr of 2400 and a CCI large pistol magnum primer. The gun was zeroed at 50 yds to be 1" high. Thinking back I rarely had to shoot a hog more than once and that load usually went clear through a hog shot in the side. If they were coming toward me I would try a head shot or just put one in the brisket. Both gators were head shots at close range(10 feet).

I never shot a deer with it or a dog. I did shoot at a beaver one time but I missed it, it was a long shot in bad light and I didn't do my part. I shot a Racoon with it that appeared to me to be rabid. Its shot plenty of other stuff to, like sticks floating in the water or dirt clods. Its a fun gun to shoot and I think its better than the Ruger Carbine because you can shoot Cast bullets.

Its a good gun and like I said it has a fantastic trigger for a leaver gun and the action is very smooth. It fed my handloads, I never used factory ammo in it and I never tried it with 44 SPL ammo. I don't think I ever shot a jacketed bullet either but I cleaned the bore good about 20 years ago and put it in my safe where it has sat.

I put this gun up when I got a Marlin Guide gun in 45/70. That was a real pig stomper. I loaded it with 400gr hard cast flat nose bullets with a gas check and a judicious amount of 3031. I had a large red dot sight on it then now it has a EER scope by Burris.

This is a fantastic rifle for someone who wants a Pistol caliber carbine for hunting. It would be a great stalking rifle in heavy cover for hogs or deer.

Whoever gets it will be happy.

I'm pretty sure most alligators are shot just below the back of the head with .22's. Those southern boys just can't afford .44 mag ammo.

Southern boys don't need a 44 mag, the can shoot well enough to use a 22 rimfire.

It was what I had at the time and it did the job. A southern boy uses what he has.

BTW I am a Southern boy through and through.

I just used what I had with me at the time. I have shot them with a 44, 22, 17hmr, 22 mag and others. I have shot one with a 22 and it only stunned him. I did not find out until I grabbed his tail and then he notified me that he was not dead. Don

I live in the south. Deep south- west in fact. Why if I was any more south, I'd be in Wyoming for crying out loud.
