my 2 cents its almost impossible to tell fakes ? copys

think it was capt Fun one day on here ? may be wrong but I do remember a posted a comment about having two ar-15 rails one brand mane say 200.00 + range and a exact copy about 50.00 or some really low price

they said in china they do not care so they get a contract to build 1000 or what ever number brand XX RAILS at the end of production run they just keep cranking out copys and sell for way less under some generic name even some times the same brand name .

one of the short falls of having them make a item for a company they just copy it China as a whole seems to ignore such things

short story I use to work for a large car ./motorcycle company early on I heard ( maybe just a company rumor but seemed very likely ) in china they the company I worked for set up a plant just to compete and have the real thing on the market as a company in china had copied one of there motorcycles completely even the name plates

knowing they would face a huge battle with the Chinese government they just started they own plant so the quality of there brand name and product would at least be there . now could I prove it no I doubt a huge corporation would own up to such a thing . this was a internal story passed along

No idea but I would get some Wilson combat mags or Chip McCormick mags.

I agree, hard to tell, they are marked correctly.

Sam we both know the Wilson and McCormick mags are much better than the old military mags but I think he is trying to just buy vintage military stuff. I assume that is why he bought the old military pistol.

But, to answer your question, WW2 contract mags were brush finished, then blued. Your matte mag has been spray painted.

Thanks all, yep you're right, I'm just trying to "complete" the gun with some period correct mags.

I guess I'll break out the Scotchbrite 3M pad and see what's under that matte finish. If I'm judicious it should clean it up without eating away at it, and give me the smooth eject too.

    Thanks gents!

I have a picture of a caliper. Will that work??

No - you can only use a picture of a caliper to measure pictures not magazines

Does it make any difference if the magazines are printed on high gloss paper??

Yep we got rub marks! Big streaks down the side.

So is this a POS that needs to go back to the seller?
