Ammo sales
I have seen some crazy ammo prices here but the thing that amazes me is some folks are selling some seriously old ammo. I have seen Remington, winchester and Federal ammo in boxes from the 70's and 80's. Its like people are cleaning out a house and selling any ammo old Uncle Bob had laying around.

Why not ? I still shoot ammo from the 60s for hunting, never had one not go bang ,but i know how its been stored too.

My cousin came over 2 weeks ago and we went target shooting. Cut blocks of ice from the pond (about 10" thick) and shot them to test bullet expansion, shot walnuts and various other small things to test accuracy. We fired 44 Magnum, .308, .357, 5.56 and 9 m/m, .303 British and .22 LR. We had a couple more calibers to shoot but it got dark. Shot about $500 in ammo by today's prices but a small fraction of that in what we actually paid when we bought the ammo. The oldest was the .303 which came from a case dated 1961 which I bought in the mid-nineties. English Cordite.
All was stored in a non-temp or humidity controlled building.

I live in California, I know its pretty F ..ed up. When purchasing ammo from out of my resident state through gun broker for example that product does need to be picked up at my FFL dealer correct. Its not legal to have it dropped off at my door correct.

Welcome to the forum. You are correct, ammo must now be shipped to a FFL dealer, or to a so called Ammunition' Vendor, who is not required to obtain a FFL, but is required to be licensed through the CA DOJ.

My old stuff still goes boom, but I only use it during range time…not for hunting or defense.

I saw an auction for Hornady ammo that was made in the early 80's when they first started making ammo. Remember the old Red box stuff in 20 round sleeves. I have seen Winchester ammo in the old yellow boxes and even old Kleenbore stuff.

Couple weeks back went to a small local gunshow. people were selling not just old ammo, but old stuff with the boxes falling apart. Saw a few that had black mold on the boxes. AND............people were buying the stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of the boxes were not stored in the standard cool and dry place.

I had several + boxes of 10mm black talons but sold them off just after selling the colt gold cup 10mm ..another stupid move I made
