I just got a new to me revolver
I got a S&W 25-5 made in 83 or 84 it has the 3 letter prefix ssn so the chambers are to spec. No pinned barrel but it does have the pinned front sight so I can change it to a fiber optic down the road(older eyes). It is a 4" blued gun. I have been wanting one and I don't have any 45 Colt guns anymore. Ricci sold 2 of them and I sold another one to a friend. I have a LOT of ammo for a 45 colt and plenty of reloading supply's.
I have really thinned the herd the last few years. I am down from 6 41 mags to just one, I think at one time I had 8 44 Mags and now I have 3. Almost all my hunting rifles are gone except a Winchester 88 in 308 and a 788 in 6mm Rem they will stay with me to the end. I have a bunch of "tactical" and target stuff but I am down to one Gun safe now. The other one is full of ammo, Valuables and paperwork.
I must say I have never owned a M25 before. I think it is one of the few S&W revolvers I have never owned. I paid a bit much for it IMO but I looked at the completed auctions and I would say I did about right, especially for a 4" gun.
If it shoots good its going to be a keeper. I like 45 Colt they are just smooth to shoot IMO.
Anyone else have one?

I've had a few in the past, but currently don't own one. I do own a pretty rare 6" 625 in 45 Colt, which is one of my favorite revolvers. My 4" model 24-3 ranks just a bit ahead of it though...

I also am partial to the old Model 88 Winchester, I have two of them, one new in the box. Will also be my last to part with.

JJ My 88 is an old one I think its a 1955 made gun. With my handloads I have shot a 3 inch group at 200 meters off a bench. The trigger is not the best but it is a hell of a gun.
I forgot I also have a 50's model 94 Winchester and a 50's Model Savage 340 with some of the best looking wood you have ever seen on a factory gun. It has a reciever sight on it and it shoots real good with my handloaded 30-30 ammo with pointy 150gr bullets.

I just added a 45 colt myself but went with the Ruger Vaquero because I still have several boxes of the really hot loads left .

He is shooting the Win. Model 88 in .308 at 200 meters. 3 inch groups are still very good. When I shoot qt 200 yards or more, the target is usually a car hood or something similarly sized.

Ken I was talking about the M88 Winchester.
I like shooting pistols at long range too but not for groups its more like plinking at rocks or dirt balls.

I mow them up, with the corn leaves, and they mulch themselves.
I have a fairly old Uberti 45 colt sa from Cabela's, back in the 90s.
It's killed a lot of whitetail.

Four inch stainless smith 66 recessed and pinned is one of my favorites .the day I got it it shot a six shot double action group at seven yards that a quarter covered . Wife’s dad also gave us his highway patrolman Az one unfixed in the box so now have a spare ! Love my Winchester 88 also but have never been able to group it much better than 2 1-2 inches at 100 yards . Mine is An inheritance from grandpa and isn’t for sale either

I have a 25 but it is a 25-2 in that totally obsolete and obscure caliber, 45acp. No need for speed loaders though because them moon and half moon clips just slip that ammo right in. My only 45 colt left is a second generation New Frontier. Both of these were acquired from an old friend who has since passed away. To be honest I haven't shot either one in a couple of years but I'll hang on to them because of my friendship with the previous owner. Bob

My 454 shoots the 45 colts, very soft shooting with the 45's. I need to work up a 45+p type load, deliver more power then a standard 45 with out the recoil of the 454. Though the 454 with 260gr pills is not bad.
A 4" 45 would be a good house or truck gun.

I had some cast lead Keith type 255gr bullets dropped out of a Lyman #454424 mold. I have some Winchester LP primers and W231 powder along with starline brass.
I think I will load up about 100 of them with 7.5gr of W231. From that 4" barrel they should be going about 850fps and will be easy on me and the gun. I may load some with 20gr of IMR 4227 which is a great powder in the 45 Colt.

Always thought the 625 was .45ACP with a 5" barrel. Perhaps I missed that one.

It's a 625-3, there were 1500 of them made in 1991, they came with with 5" barrels. One of the few that I won't let go of.

My 25-2 is also .45 acp. Came from Kasey. A fine revolver.
