    That's not whining, that's taking a beating!

Whining is when a new member's first post in the forum is some sort of gripe or complaint; usually with Gun Broker. I know that Nunn doesn't like it, and I don't like it either, and we generally make our feelings known.

This thread does not fall into that category. Carry on.

I think sometimes people bid in the heat of the moment, then find out or realize what they can afford, or what they are bidding on is really worth. That all should be worked out before you bid and decide what your max will be. One of the reasons people come up with new accounts after they have been blackballed.

Took a $155 beating from 1st auction to 2nd auction on mine. I didn't lose $$ on the auction, but it left a sting.

While looking/monitoring various auctions Kasey had going for me, I could not understand seeing 1 (F) bidders. Those folks should be gone/banned IMHO.

If your 1st auction resulted in you getting an F, you need to go somewhere else.

I hope Gary (gjshaw) made out better on his more sporting Nova - he was really taking a bath on that one.

Funny thing is the first winning bidder emailed asking about layaway several days before the auction ended. He was told we were not interested in doing layaway on internet sales. So, he goes on and wins the auction anyway. Miraculously that very same night his wife hit a deer with the car so he wasn't able to complete the transaction unless we did layaway. We replied asking him what he proposed, he never replied so two weeks later we reran the auction.

Since Sunday night we have had two bidders want their sale canceled.

The first, after placing five bids and winning claimed he bid on the wrong gun.

The second just flat said to cancel it.

Both were new bidders and my GB guy kind of let them both have it, it is getting too common to be letting these people off. Well, guess what, they both paid right up.

I'm glad to hear your GB guy "let them have it." I have woke up, and asked myself - Did you really bid on so and so? If so, and I won. So be it. Suck it up, and honor your word as a Man. Do what you have to do.

Modern folk seem to have no Honor, or commitment to keeping your Word. Where/When I was raised, your Word was your bond. If you have no honor as a Man - you have nothing. I would not even consider leaving a Seller hanging, if I had bid on and won an Auction.

    That's just me.

This is just for conversation and shouldn't necessarily be taken as whining. There was much discussion on Ken's nova and what it brought the first time vs. The second go round.

Here is a beautiful 700 LSS we had on auction where we were more than happy with the price realized.

Well, here is the 2nd go round.

    https://www.gunbroker.com/item/893016835

I hope no one questions why we have a hardline stance on non payers.

The high bidder on the second auction also has (4) NPB F feedbacks.

  • KenK/84Bravo

Okay, a 4 (F) NPB Feedback rating. Why in the **** are you still here?

    Seriously.

Actually he has an A(45). So he has 41A+s, that's what's keeping keeping him alive and not banned.

GB use the law of averages: the Remington 700 NPB began with 1(A+) to be followed by 1(F). Now his record shows 2(C).

There should be a threshold, but that wouldn't ease the pain for those who get burned by a NPB who stays right above the cutoff line.

I don't care how many + ratings you have. 1 NPB your on Probation. You get 2 NPB ratings, you'd be gone.

    Well..............................................................................................................................................Bye.

I'm leaning towards blocking bidders like that also, have had 3 in the last 3 months or so. That, or maybe have them send a 10% deposit, non refundable, if they want permission to bid.....

IF I was king for a day on GB. I would "Pro Rate" the FB rating relative to the entire NPBidders.

Meaning: One NPB would carry the weight of 5 Fs instead of just one. If more than 2 per year, your GONE!

Something like that sounds quite workable, for buyers and sellers. Besides NPB's there are sellers who claim to have "mistakenly" sold the listed gun in their shop and then couldn't complete the auction. This happened to me a couple of years ago and when I checked the reviews I found that the shop had done this several times in the last two years. The problem was that the shop had so many positive A+ feedbacks that their over all rating didn't reflect this. With a system like Chiefr suggest, a couple of those F's would have meant a suspension.

Agree Mark. Sellers need to hold up to their end of the bargain. Have been with GB since Nunn introduced me to it back in 1999. Scored a pistol for an unbelievable price and the seller said it was sold by mistake in his shop. Ironically, same pistol showed up on GB not long after: Same pics, same serial #, and same seller.

One other change I recommend is ban NPBidders from posting FB for that particular transaction. Many sellers have to go thru appropriate actions to have reciprocal FB removed and it can take up to a month

I can't find it now, but I "sold" a clean 16 gauge Model 12 Winchester to a Non-Paying Bidder, for somewhere north of $700.

Relisted and sold it for $625. Not a terrible loss, but annoying.

As suggested, there needs to be an extra penalty for not completing the transaction: either the buyer not paying or the seller not shipping. In many cases the "F" is a pi$$ing contest with a disagreement over the condition of the firearm (I have one such F) or the time it took to pay or ship. IMO, if the transaction is actually complete- no matter the agony involved, the lowest grade should be a D. An F should be reserved for NPBs and dealers who can't- or won't ship and, as chiefr suggested, it should carry a harsh penalty.

Let me add that any seller who is suspended from the auctions for (say) 3 months will magically find a way to ensure that guns listed in the auctions are not "mistakenly" sold in the shop.

Sad that ''DryDock'' got torpedoed on the first auction. Does GB allow the seller(DryDock) to contact the second highest Bidder if the Winning bidder Welches on the deal

No, that is not allowed, nor is there anyway to accomplish it.
