Colt 1911 U.S. Navy
The only gun my dad owned was a Colt 1911 U.S. Navy. He said he brought it back when he left the Newport News shipyard after WWII. He left it to me and it was stolen in 1982.
Look what they are priced at, now.

Even the Argentine 1911s are doing very well.

I wonder how many pre-a1 1911’s were issued with U.S. Navy markings?

jimdeere that's the problem, you see what they're worth now, but would you ever sell it, even at those prices?
I have a house full of stuff like that, priceless hand me downs from generations past, that I can't sell. I guess the best we can do is honor their memories, admire the piece in our hands, and tell their story to the next generation. Their character, "who" they were, is what matters. That can never be stolen from you.
