my uncles and dad were die hard Ford guys ,
to them it was First On Race Day ,
my first several cars were all mustangs even a cobra Fairlane
I bought a 69 camaro ( my first Chevy still have it ) and I was a out cast to do such a horrible thing are you crazy buying a chevy .. sadly dad and my uncles all are gone now RIP maybe to the big ford dealership in the sky

I was a Ford man when gas was cheap and parts easy to find.
Big blocks, 390's, 406's and
427's with 2 big Holley 4's, 4 in the floor, several 9 inch spare rear pumpkins.
Could repair them blindfolded.
Finally bought a Toyota Tundra and my Ford wounds are now healed and no pains.

Yes fords are great, but never had a dodge could not get me in one. Driven a chevy to 300k without tune up. Rusted out on me. Have 1988 ford f150. 300/6speed running like new. Work truck. Just going by my experience. Drive what keeps going for the best money

Always been a Ford man, but have owned a few chevys, My first was a 67 Mustang (Messed Up S#it That Ain't No Good) and I remember (Found On Road Dead) and (F_^ked Over Rebuilt Dodge) as the most common sayings in my day. I still have 95 F250 that I bought new and a 2006 F150 I got when stepdad passed. Also have two Tauruses dead in my yard...

I started building small block Chevy's in '58. 20 years ago my son and I built a '71 Camaro with a 406 SBC to race at Raceway Park in Indy. Those days are over now and drive a '15 K1500 but do have a '70 Malibu in my shop. I'll probably never finish it though.

And by the way, Furd dealerships around here are giving a free puppy with each purchase.
They are thinking of the drivers well being, kind of like a emotional service dog. When your furd breaks down you won't have to walk home alone.
We have had some really cold winters and with all the fancy tailgate accessories,one dealer is installing heaters in the tailgates as a sales promotion.

On a quiet nite you can hear the chevys rusting . Friends don't let friends drive chevys .Full disclosure , I owned a 1962 Super 88 Oldsmobile , a1970 Corvette convertible and a 1981 El Camino . Every thing else has been a FOMOCO product . Last truck was a 1995 f-150 that I drive 326,000 miles with less than $1000.00 in repairs over its lifetime . Current ride is a 2018 f150 super cab . Long term project is a 1956 Mercury Monterey Phaeton four door with less than 37,000 miles ,bought new by my grandfather

back in the day any one changing spark plugs in a big block ford with the shock towers what seemed like 1/2" away and the back spark plugs were also a PITA from personal experience on 390 428 and 429 wedged in the eng bay
my first Chevy was a 69 Camaro 396 BBC the access to change plugs is like night and day to the big ford engines just one example not to mention parts inner change
as for cars and trucks build at least in the last 20 years are for the most part all like putting 10 pounds of crap packed into a one pound bag . noting is easy
I remember when younger the brand of car you drove was almost fighting words as time went by most decided the common ground of liking muscle cars over shadowed any brand name
I truly like chevy as my favorite but would love to have a 427 sonic ford galaxy boss 429 mustang or a 440 six pack or 426 cuda 😁

it took me years to like the GT40 not sure why maybe because it was just a race car . and watch the movie ford vs ferrari good movie
now a 427 AC cobra are things my dreams were made of . if I ever win the lottery I would have one . my family doc has a high end replica of a AC 427 side oiler 4 speed cobra . I was suppose to go for a ride with him then the covid scare hit and every thing was off

A friend of mine in Spokane was a high school teacher and he bought a real 427 Cobra decades ago, and set it on blocks in his garage as his retirement. In all those years he never put 50 miles on it, because nobody would sell him insurance.
I was over visiting one day and bent over to look at the engine, about to put my fists/knuckles on the edge of the engine bay (so I wouldn't leave fingerprints). He stopped me, then pointed. Along the edge where I was going to put my hands were 8 small dents in the aluminum bodywork where someone had done the same thing.
It was painted a horrendous faded magenta with white stripes. A couple years later I had my boy at the Fairchild AFB car show and there it was with a rope around it and DO NOT TOUCH signs. The guy next to me was telling his boy about the "replica Cobra big block" and I bent down and pointed and showed my boy the 8 small dents. "See those? That's the real thing."
Beautiful car. Back in 1982 it was worth just over $600,000. Now? Priceless.

one smart fellow . have read the old race cars not just the cobra the body's were almost like tin foil they were so thin to get as light as possible , and as you said leaning on one would cause some damage real fast .
closest thing to a high dollar car I ever was around a local fellow in town had a 70 hemi cuda back in the mid to late 1970's
I would guess around 1980 give or take a year some fellow tracked it down that lived in Cal. and started the got to have it calls . from what I learned later on the local fellow said no way no how . ... but a plane trip and 10k cash the car was on the way to California . at the time 10k cash would have been hard to turn down . however I would wager every time a Barrett Jackson or similar big car auction comes on tv . he cries a little ( or maybe a lot )
