Merle Travis wrote and performed the original. I don't know how to post a link on this tablet. He did a whole album of coal mine songs. The thing about merle Travis is he played an incredible finger picking style that sounded like 3 sets of hands were playing.

Yeah that's it. He doesn't do much pickin on that recording but his recording of Cannonball Rag shows his style. He set music aside and went to Hollywood to act in cowboy serial films.
