It is at $531 right now. Does anyone have a clue how much money it would take to make that into a decent looking, safe shooter?? My best guess would be more than buying a mint model 29 in the first place.

My neighbor bought a similar Model 29 at a gun show last year: 6 inch bulged barrel (just a single BIG bulge) and little or no finish (lots of rust), for $400. He then sent it to S&W who replaced the barrel and factory refinished the pistol....for $600! 😪 It now looks and shoots nicely. Even so, I consider it a poor investment.

Well if I was a gunsmith and had a .44 barrel laying around. No, I still wouldn't spend more than a couple hundred. Maybe three.

That gun has lived a rough life. I would maybe go $400 on it and replace the barrel with a 4" and shoot it.
