Just read the new movie will portray John Kelly/Clark as a black guy. They aren't creative enough to write a roll for a black man?? They have to "appropriate" an existing one??

Tom Clancy passed away but John Clark lives on. I just finished Shadow of the Dragon that was written by Marc Cameron for the Clancy Jack Ryan series and John Clark is still a badass and plugging bad guys. Pretty soon they will have to give him a motorized scooter to chase after the bad guys.😀 Bob

Haven't read that one yet, but it's on the list. The 'to read' list right now is being overshadowed by the 'honey do' and 'remodel projects' list. Hopefully by this time next year, if I haven't worked myself into an early grave, I'll be able to get back into some reading (and fishin', and shootin', and guitar playin', and huntin', and reloadin', and...).
I just received Rocky's books and am itchin' to find enough time to sit and read 'em.

Not a big surprise now days. Some 20 years ago Will Smith became James West in that Wild Wild West movie. It was pretty bad and Will couldn't hold a candle to Robert Conrad!

Casting John Clark as a black man is pretty ridiculous. If they want to cast a black character then do so. Make the character correct and I'll be glad to watch it. Commandeering an established character makes no sense and distracts from the story.

In the movie ( I know not the book) "The Sum of All Fears" John Clark was played by Liev Schreiber. He did a great job and it was a GREAT movie IMHO.
