Going to a gun auction tomorrow, question about Remington Rolling Block
I like to do my homework before I go to auctions, but after searching GB and google I'm coming up empty on this one. Auction description "1871 Remington Rolling Block 22 Hornet Bull Barrell", any info or idea of value would be greatly appreciated.
This is the only image provided.

That's a tough one. I can't get much detail from their blurry picture. About the only thing I can tell you is that it was obviously reworked by someone but there is no way of knowing the quality of their work. Also, unless you are left handed that butt stock won't work very well. The rolling block was a very strong action for its time and can easily handle the 22 hornet.
I would probably pass because of not knowing who did the work or who made the barrel. Bob

Thanks guys! I thought it might have been some modern version, I'll stay away from it.

" I'll stay away from it."...............it all depends on the price............last summer I picked up a 'nice' winchester high wall in .219 wasp with scope, dies, single set trigger & brass by a well known custom 'smith for 1/2 a grand

Looks like quality work. I would say it will sell for $300 to 500 to someone who wants a single-shot .22 Hornet. Definitely stocked for a left hander.

+1
They are worth more in the original configuration. If that is a Leopold scope, it is probably better to sell separate.

It was well done, but it brought $675, there were no deals to be had today.

The high hammer spur is the give away-only on 1871 New York State some say militia, some say National Guard model. Was originally a .50-70 Gov. Just my NSHO.
