About 10 years ago the power company used one of those cut it and move it thingies at the beginning of the video to remove 80-100 60+ foot tall pines at the edge of our property. They paid us big bucks for the trees and had the trees down and ground up in about a day and a half. Only one guy in the crew was qualified to run it and spent a lot of time sitting and waiting for the rest of the guys to catch up with the work he created. It was quite a sight to see a 60' pine traveling upright 75 yards to the chipper. Bob

They used one to clear the well pad and line. Had good wood for a few years.

Thanks Ricci, I set and watched it all. The logging/lumbering at the start is all local here, and I know or know of all those people. The Feller-Buncher is also known as a roto-saw, but I just call them a weed whacker. As an aside, I know the nephew of the guy that invented chainsaw chain, and founded the Oregon company.

HPD, I'm not 100% but I think one of those machines is what Tom Narrance was operating that last I spoke with him.

Mule, Actually Tom runs a log processor, that limbs, measures, and bucks the logs after the trees are logged to the landing. The Waratah processor is capable of falling trees, but it's not meant to do that on a full time basis. BTW I had a visit with Tom about a month ago. He and his wife are doing well.

    Waratah Log processor.

The most impressive Saw I've seen was one (20-30' long) hanging below a Loach doing Power line work, trimming in our Mtn holler when they were reconfiguring the line. It spent weeks here. I watched from my deck in awe while the guy was all around and over my house, sitting on my back deck. We made eye contact and waved several times.

He was a former Vietnam Vet pilot. He had crashed 4 times doing tree work over the years. (I see why, he was so low to the ground, if something went wrong he'd be pretty well screwed.) We learned a few months later he had crashed and was killed.

That saw was an animal. He could turn it on/off from his cockpit. Wicked loud, almost sounded like a Warthog unleashing a burst from its canon.
