Congratulations Barber family of Wasilla AK
On your Iron Dog finish.
Team #3,Shane Barber a old AK work colleague and his 16 YO son Evan, finished the Iron Dog snowmobile race of 2,474 miles in the 8th spot.
His eldest son Cody and his teammate, team #39 finished in the 6th hole.
Didnt win, but to just finish is a heck of an accomplishment.
Maybe next year.

What an accomplishment. Wrap your head around that folks, two thousand five hundred miles across the Alaskan wilderness, in 42 hours. No roads, dark most of the race, moose everywhere, windchills approaching -70.
Its a monumental accomplishment. These guys aren’t human, they’re from another galaxy.

Tod Palin was a winner of that almost inhuman feat of endurance years ago. Traveling at 100MPH over narrow rough trails with moose popping out of the woods sounds insane to me. I watched some of the sleds they built for the abuse, they were rebuilt like tanks to take to pounding, the human was along for the ride like a fighter pilot, hoping to hang on.

Shane actually partnered with Todd a couple years, just not the year that Todd won.
Todd's team finished 12th this year.
Grueling race for anyone.
