Better with Jameson's in my view. Not a fan of Scot's Whiskey.

Thanks, Sus. I knew that recipe by heart. It's a damn fine drink.

I was a bit maudlin last night in that other thread. Not only did I just have the anniversary of my 'Nam arrival but another FAC passed away recently. On top of everything else these days, Agent Orange is still killing some of us. Again, I apologize for my maundering.

I tried one once but I really didn't care for it. I like scotch but I like it neat.

Drambuie is Scotch-based so it's a natural for Scotch cocktails. The Rusty Nail seems to work best with the less smoky/peaty Scotch varieties. It is great with a "highland" style blended Scotch like Famous Grouse or Dewar's, for example. A Rusty Nail is a nice "whiskey and cigars" drink for after a late dinner or as a nightcap.

I have less fond memories of the Mike FAC unit drink, which came about very much unintentionally. We at one point drank the bar dry (ponder that for a moment) of everything except Scotch and root beer. Trust me, Scotch and root beer is not a lip-smacking delicious drink, but it served as an initiation of sorts for FNGs.

A year after I came home, a largish box arrived at my door. It contained a bottle of Scotch and a sixer of root beer. I never did find out who sent it.

Rocky Raab was in the barrack in Germany and we were snowed in no px etc. thought I'd try something since I was out of Coca-cola..... lets just say Hawaiian punch doesn't go well with Jim Beam...

That was hilarious reading in your book. I will only imagine and never try that formula.

Thanks for rotating the pic, with my fused neck I could not get my eyeballs cranked around sideways enough to read it! 😜
