When I was in Africa one time I ate those berries and have seen monkeys drunk on them. They come off of the Marula tree. Africans pick the berries and put the juice and pulp in a jar for about a week. Then they drink it like a kind of beer/wine. Its not bad, I like palm wine better but its not too bad.
The berries ferment on their own. Elephants eat them and supposedly get hammered. I never saw a drunk Elephant and don't want too but the monkeys were funny, falling down and just laying on the ground drunk.
Amarula is pretty good stuff though.
