during the blizzard of 1978 we had snow drifts like that or very close they were taller than my friends full size blazer .

speaking of a departed friend ( RIP Mike ) had just bought a new chevy blazer one of the factory 'conversion" fancy paint interior and big tires , we were out driving around were pulled out twice by snow plows and a huge front end loader . they had every thing closed down national guard came in with front end loaders duce and a half trucks helicopter's all manner of things

any one with a snowmobile was helping get food and supplies to the people in the country

we made a run to a local grocery store about a block away from another buddies house ( I lived in town with my parents than ) the sheriff had them closed down all the stores . in case they needed to ration out supplies . they let us in because one one of our friends ( gang ) was a gal who had a very young kid , so they let us in for milk and food because of the kid .. ashamed now but at the time we did get food and milk and staples for the kid ,,,, along with beer , chips , and snacks for us 😮

I hope to not have to go thru that again

as far as today local weather calling for a foot of snow below zero wind chills and high winds ,, not looking forward for that . my oldest son and I dusted off the snow thrower . generator and totes full of extension cords , filled up with gas and made sure all start and run Ok . filled up the 8n and have the plow on it

I also made a run to the gas station to refill a few gas cans ( I try and keep about 40 gallons on hand )

should be good to go but never know

My Dad toted the mail for 30 years.

In the early 60's he has pictures that were taken showing his car sitting in the roads that had been cleared with a front end loader. The pictures are similar to that , the only a difference is the model of the car and the snow was the same depth on both sides of the road.

Same year the NG would fly choppers around and you were supposed to wave a container of what you need, milk, eggs, coffee and the such. neighbor waved Coke bottles. They came back and dropped what you "ordered" .

One fellow needed hay, out comes the hay bale and k-wharp, one of the cows,DRT

NOW what do you think of living in Kalifornia?

California is a big state, there are many places that get lots of snow there also, depends on where in the state you live, luckily most of my relatives still there are near the coast so they drive a couple hours to go play in the snow when they want too....

    It could be worse.

    I’m just sayin šŸ™ƒ

I used to see snow like that in Turnagain pass in Alaska, two semis could pass each other at the top of the pass on the divided part of the highway and never see each other. Another great place for snow like that was the highway to Valdez. It too got so deep it was like driving in a snow tunnel. They have snow poles along the road so the plows and blowers know where the road actually is.

Here in Wyoming, we have had one of the mildest winters I can remember!

It "snudged" all day yesterday. That's when snow falls but instantly melts into sludge. It accumulated to six inches or so overnight, though. Up to 32F again right now, so the driveways that I blew will likely stay clear even though it may well snow until tomorrow night. Boy howdy do we need it.

The newest snow poles look like street light poles, and the reflector tips stick out a bit over the road. It sure makes them easier to see!
