I was wondering the same thing the other day as I was sitting in front of my Pacific Energy Neo 2.5 insert blazing away.

Liking it overall. More heat (1/2 again as much?) with about 2/3 the amount of Wood. My bill seems to about the same or slightly higher, as the dual blowers apparently draw significant watts. Also realizing that if the power goes out for an (a'hem) significant amount of time, my old larger radiant heat Fischer with a couple flat tops for cooking would be a better option. Myself and a couple Buddies can make that happen, if I have to.
Buddy has indeed discovered that the unit throws out a lot of heat up close, he will camp out there when coming in from outside.
Two steps forward, one step back, apparently.
