we used to say in the military three moves equals a house fire. talking about what's lost and damaged.

We had a house fire a few years ago, moving to the new place was pain free because we bought new stuff and had it delivered. Easiest move ever,

My new office is ready and I am trying to get all my stuff packed up by tomorrow when the movers arrive. I have two gun safes, a few thousand rounds of ammo, two tool boxes, some books, and some office equipment to move. And my Mr. Coffee and supply of Black Silk.

I thought you moved last summer!!!

Forge you would let movers come in and pack up your stuff?? No thank you. I don't need to be missing the stuff I have here. NO way. Hell no.

Just send me the ammo, that will help. I could use one of the safes too. Now you just need a pickup.

Trust movers to pack up contents from 3 gun safes and deliver them to a new location.

    Yea sure.

The movers I have seen I would not trust being out of my site with my stuff especially being behind my back with guns, knives and ammo. (especially them movers with lots of jewelry and tattoos on their face)

    Yep, moving sucks big air.

Moved 40 years of accumulation of STUFF not long ago to new location and placed so as would be in some kind of order. Sometimes I quit looking for a item and will see it months later when looking for something else.

I remember George Carlin talking about his STUFF when I'm searching.

I'm tossing away some knives and choke tubes and crap that has been laying around for a couple of years. Got a three gallon can of .38 special brass that's going in the trash. I wish there was somebody close that could use it but I don't have time to mess with it.

My Son is driving from Seattle to Connecticut he is in Montana it is 28 below zero, planning of heading through SD. There was a detour off the closed interstate to RT 2 where he crept along at 25MPH for over 30 miles. The roads are bad, he is going to be in the eye of the storm weather wise for his whole trip. He said the same thing you said; HE HATES MOVING.

I've moved a few folks. Just pull up and unhook the car hauler, tell them to load it and I will be back the next day. Then hook up , move them to where they go and watch them unload.

After living in the same house for 3\4's of my life and moving just over 5 years ago, I still think I have stuff that I left behind all the time. I think it must take at least 7 years to reprogram the human brain!

At least that is what I'm hoping for. Bad enough getting used to new roads, stores, neighbors, stray pets, weather conditions, doctors, hospitals, dentists, auto mechanics, .......heck! I might as well as just said starting a new life! 😐️

If you could stay out of trouble, you wouldn't have to move as often........

    OK :

Funny small story bout hate to move ,,,

Years ago ( 16 or so ) when I bought the property I now live on , I moved from one side of the small town ( Niota , TN ) to the other side with the help of a 'buddy' , being recently divorced I had a FEW things to move , we had made a couple of short moves , had one good load left to go : except for a pile of furniture in the front yard !

We started to get into the truck ; my 'buddy' asked " what about the stuff in the front yard ' ???

    I replied : " I told You I hate to move "!

I then lit it on Fire and we drove away !!!!

I swear I will NEVER move again !

    Thanks !!!

I hear you Brother. My Dad was a lifer 32 yr. ABN CSM, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. I grew up all over the World. Spent 5 years in myself.

When they had to investigate my background, in the Military for a TS Clearance, I was told it was one of the most difficult they had ever done. 🤔

Ya! But we who don't like to move end up getting "ROOTS" where we have planted ourselves! 🙂

In the last 65 years I have moved twice, with a total of 3 miles.

Must be the Gypsy in me!

When the snow melts and the frost goes out, I will be building a new building for my "Collection". I know . . . I know - "the building is not big enough". I did tell my wife the "garage" portion is large enough to hold 31 Jeeps (mathematically). We have one . . . so I do have room to expand.

My database shows 6,159 items in one location (the 3rd floor of my house - spiral staircase - just to make it fun) and an unknown amount at The Armory - since I have not got them entered into the database yet. My military vehicles are at The Armory also.

Total distance? Less than 100 yards across the street and down the alley from my house - and 3 1/2 blocks from The Armory.

Of course, I have to keep track of the items in my house so I can find them once they get to the new location - and the items at The Armory will have to be entered into the database before putting them on display.
