1937 Luger S/42 with no waffenampts..WHY?

    The Germans were fanatics about inspection markings on their military equipment. Always a remote probability, your Luger was a lunch box gun. More likely to my thinking, wasn't originally manufactured for the German military. Although it might have ultimately have wound up with a paramilitary or military unit?


    There are some Luger specific forums on the net. Post you inquiry and photos to them. You might get a more definitive explanation.

    I believe that r-s is right: S/42 pistols were made for a commercial contract, so no military proofs would have been stamped.

    Hard to call? The lack of waffenampts, might or might not affect value? No offense, but your photos aren't the best. The finish on one side, seems to be much darker than the other. This might lead to doubts, on if the finish was factory original. As I recall, the early prewar lugers had almost commercial quality finishes.
