UPDATE: I won a gun this wknd!
Update: Results are posted - I pulled off the win in Unlimited/Amateur division & it was tight!
I beat 2nd place by 3/10ths of a second and 3rd place by 3/4ths of a second!
3 of us separated by less than 1 second
So yes- 2 years in a row 1st in my division and 2 years in a row I won a free Glock!
Life is good!
Next big match is USPSA Area 6 (SouthEast states) championship in North Carolina in April.
As I mentioned this wknd was the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation (GSSF) match in Daytona beach.
I shoot in the “unlimited amateur” division. Last year I was the #1 in this category and as it is the race guns, I was the fastest “amateur” shooter of the match- over 700 competitors.
Here is the thing- it is the same stages & the same match every year. So while I have no idea how anyone else shot- I can calculate my score and I know I was over 8 seconds faster this year than last year. To top this off, the fastest guy I personally know who shot the match came in .75 seconds behind me. Another really good sign.
Even if I don’t win a new gun (which would be nice) I know I smashed my performance from last year (which was better than my performance the year before).
I won’t know for up to a month (Glock is Slow!) but if someone got me- they were going to have to be really fast.

Winning a gun would be cool! Congrats on your great performance.

First out of 700 in anything is an accomplishment . A huge one . Knocking 8 seconds off a series is also huge . Congrats no matter how it turns out !

Whether or not you won a gun, you should feel very proud of the way you competed Dave. Congratulations, you deserve it.

congrats
I would be proud of such a event and knocking that much time off is truly a accomplishment
I wish you luck on winning a gun but self discipline and achievement is still a great thing to have
one of the fellows a friend of my youngest son comes by out back yard shoots, I know he competes but never ask a lot of questions as to what category he has a tricked out Glock when he stops by here (maybe more not sure ) after watching him shoot I realize how terrible I am 😯

Nice shooting Dave.

8 seconds off last years time? Holy cow! One would expect that from someone new to the sport but once you reach the levels you're at even shaving .8 of a second is pretty amazing.
Nice work!

Congrats.
I know nothing about these competitions except what I’ve seen on tv.
Where would your winning time of placed you in the professional bracket?
Are they set up the same for an equal comparison?
