Did you know that Colt
Made a 1911 Commander in 30 Luger?
I didn't.
Here is one that sold:

Never heard of such a thing. I would want a Colt archive letter on that.

Made for export to Italy in the early 1970's. Luger made some P-08's in .45acp. Guess it was a turnabout fair play thing, but those Lugers bring a better price.

In some countries civilians cannot own guns in the same caliber as their military. Hence, no 9mms in some countries. The .30 Luger is an easy convert. Same magazine.

I want one, but not that badly!😱

I was watching one on the auction side awhile ago. Seller was in Minot, and the pistol had import markings.
I'd sure like to pick one up, but...

IIRC ,,,,,,,, LAR made a conversion kit years ago.
Yes, I saw one at a gun show. Could not tell at all on the outside of the pistol as I recall it was anything but a 45 until you looked at the small 30 cal hole slightly protruding thru the barrel bushing. Owner said he had a 30 luger kit and the gun could be restored back to ACP. No one was interested. Should have just sold the kit.

It's an aluminum framed Commander, not a steel framed Combat Commander, but it's very nice.

I've seen some NVA 1911's converted to 7.62x25 Tokarev.
